A lifelong obsession with art and animation has led David Zamboni to research what he finds so compelling about both worlds and to instill it into his work: a strong sense of storytelling and the creation of the characters and environments to tell those stories.
To further this study, David attended Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida and graduated with a BFA in Illustration (honors) and a portfolio of work based on fairy tales and fables.
Since then, he has pursued a career as a freelance illustrator. His freelance work includes design for the Rape and Crisis Center annual fundraiser as well as various cover/editorial pieces for magazines such as Peppertree literary magazine and East Tennessee Life.
In addition, he has illustrated “The Enchanted Tree” by Donna Heller, a fully illustrated children’s book about the importance of healthy eating. David has also produced conceptual and character design work for several animated shorts including The Magic Flute, The Frog Prince, and the forthcoming Tweet.
The majority of the work presented here was executed in acrylic on illustration board, his medium of choice, though he is proficient in other mediums such as oil, pen and ink, and watercolor.
